A Baosteel rolling line which is nearing 40 years old is about to go through a radical hi-tech refurb.

The blooming line was the first to be built at Baosteel in 1985 and has been regularly optimised by CISDI.

It will now be upgraded with CISDI’s patented BDCD Blooming Mill mechanical equipment and relevant hydraulic valves stands, and the latest electric drive and automation systems.

The refurbishment will enhance Baosteel’s market share and competitiveness in China’s special steels sector.

It will enable the production of quality square and round slabs, which will be fed into the line’s downstream production of high-grade bearing steel, high-strength chord steel, tubular billet and mandrel steel.

Highlights of the blooming line rebuild:

CISDI’s 8-series BDCD supplies will lead to a high rolling precision, extended roll bearing service life, easier operation and maintenance.

Heavy-reduction process will be applied to markedly enhance product performances.

Automatic rolling will be enabled by highly integrated mechanical, electric and hydraulic systems, which will be suited for the blooming of round, rectangular and shaped slabs and ingots.

The BDCD range has world-class standard rankings.

The BDCD is being assembled at CISDI Equipment Co in Chongqing, China
