Enabled by CISDI Thermal and Environmental Engineering Co, a 50MW ultra-high-temperature, ultra-high-pressure gas power generator unit is now on-grid at Baosteel Desheng Stainless Steel.

The Fujian Province’s power generator is technically viable for the transmission and supply of electricity to users.

The unit consists of one 170-tonne per hour UHT, UHP gas boiler, one 50MW condensing steam turbine featuring an intermediate primary reheat and makeup process, a 55MW power generator and auxiliary facilities.

It will work alongside an existing 65MW UHT, UHP gas power generator to consume the entire plant’s excess blast furnace gas and also recover some of the excess steams.

This boost to the plant’s overall energy utilisation will increase Desheng’s annual power generation capacity to 400 x106 KWh, along with its internal power generation ratio.

Desheng’s carbon dioxide emissions are dropping by around 221,000 tonnes a year.

In addition to the marked economic and environmental benefits increased energy utilsation will bring, the new power installations constitute a catalyst for transforming the plant’s optimal energy structure to cleaner, low-carbon and safer levels.
