A dual high-speed bar rolling line has been hot-commissioned in ultra-fast time at Desheng Steel Yunnan’s new workshop building.

It was carried out 48 days ahead of the contractual schedule and became the first equipment to go into operation at the Desheng Vanadium Titanium Eco-industrial Park.

Projected annual production capacity is 1.60 million tonnes. It will feature high-strength bar diameters ranging from 12 to 40mm and a rolling speed of 45m per second. These indicators rank as the highest in China.

Despite a monsoon and problems caused by complicated site conditions, CISDI and its project partners were able to speed up the construction process through close collaboration and a ‘scientific’ allocation of resources to procedures.

Even a delay in supplies of power and air from the municipal substation and compressed air station were dealt with.

CISDI had pledged to hot commission early as this important step will help to ensure the line’s ramp-up occurs on-schedule.

Multiple advanced tech and equipment were applied:

·          Direct rolling

·          CISDI’s NHCD short-stress path rolling mill

·          Groove-less rolling

·          Uniform feedstock

·          Controls for achieving highly-efficient production and accurate dimensions

·          TMCP (thermo-mechanical control rolling)

·          All-line centralised operation control

·          Automatic, eco-friendly dust suppression at the Finishing Line

·          Online monitoring

·          Smart, standardised welding

·          Product performance forecasting.

All rolling mills were developed by CISDI Equipment Co in Chongqing. The dia. 310mm super-heavy-duty IDMC and CDMC modular mills will operate with a maximum rolling force of 470 kilonewtons. They will play a unique task in rolling large-specification bars at low temperatures, with a large screw-down and applied TMCP.

CISDI’s power supply, drive and automation control systems enable the line to operate accurately and stably.

The CISDI team remain onsite to provide technical assistance and resolve any issues which could occur in production flow and capacity and trial production.

The Finishing Mill Train applies the dia. 310mm super-heavy-duty IDMC and CDMC modular mills, enabling a maximum rolling force of 470 kilonewtons and TMCP- based rolling of large-specification bars at low temperatures, with a large screw-down

The CISDI-developed cooling bed achieves two bar charging methods via automated switch-over: single bar and dual bars per channel, ensuring the discharging temperatures are equal to and lower than 300deg.C.
