CISDI is building a scrap processing and distribution centre at Binxin Steel in China’s Jiangsu Province.

Binxin is committed to smart manufacturing via digital transformation and developing a green, low-carbon plant. The new centre is an integral part of its pledge.

It will house two refined scrap distribution plants, a scrap warehousing smart control system, a smart distribution management system and utilities.

Transferring scrap by truck across the factory will become a thing of the past. Scrap will be directly charged into a basket at the downstream steelmaking plant.

CISDI’s smart control system will enable intelligent, centralised scrap warehousing, distribution and control.

In the future, other smart functions are planned - driver-less overhead crane control and smart quality inspection.

The integrated centre will perform smart access-in guidance, point-to-point unloading, processing, categorised storage and smart, refined distribution, all of which will reduce costs and support a higher standard of scrap melting.
