A steel plant in China’s Jiangsu Province is all set for the June start-up of its new tube rolling line, following delivery of its final piece of advanced equipment.

The advanced six-cross-roll straightener arrived at Changqiang Steel having passed integrated testing at its place of manufacture, CISDI Equipment Co’s workshops in China’s Chongqing.

The high-precision straightener is intended to produce tube with an outer diameter of 127mm. It is comprised of pre-stressed stands and four-slide cross beams structures. Its independent angle locking unit helps regulate the roll’s centre.

This type of six-cross-roll straightener has been operating successfully at Jiangsu Chengde Steel’s Ø127mm tube rolling line since 2020.

CISDI, the Changqiang line’s EPC-based service provider, is providing full life-cycle solutions from design to manufacturing, and technical assistance for commissioning.

The line consists of a tubular stock preparation line, a mandrel pipe rolling line and three pre-finishing lines.

Since August 2023, CISDI Equipment Co has supplied four core equipment pieces - a taper piercer mill, 3-roll mandrel pipe mill, stretch reducer and extracting mill.

Its regenerative annular furnace was also delivered in the same timeframe by CISDI Thermal and Environmental Engineering Co.

Projected annual tube rolling production capacity is 200,000 tonnes of small-calibre special steel tube, to be used for high-quality oil country tube goods (OCTG), pipeline pipe and boiler tube (with an outer diameter range of 32-140mm, a wall thickness range of 3.5-16mm and in lengths of 6-13m).
