—— Digital Twin tech will enhance continuous casting efficiency and quality and reduce energy consumption

A newly hot commissioned slab caster at Sanbao Group in China’s Fujian Province marks another successful industrial application of CISDI’s Digital Twin at a continuous casting plant.

CISDI designed and supplied the caster, which feeds high-quality slabs into Sanbao’s special steel rolling line (specification 1,780mm).

Its multiple patented technologies will beef up the enterprise’s quest for greener, sustainable manufacturing by enhancing production efficiency and quality and reducing energy consumption.

1) Tech achieving precise control of the continuous casting production process:

        continuously-curved, continuously-straightened roller aprons

        mould’s hydraulic oscillation

        mould’s online width adjustment

        mould’s bleed-out forecasting system

three-dimensional secondary cooling dynamic control model

        dynamic soft reduction

        gap-less regulating segments.

2) The Digital Twin has integrated the continuous casting machine’s production data, the 3D model and the spatial information. A complete CCM virtual space has been built to enable mapping between the physical entity and the digital object.

A dedicated segment change car was installed by optimising the spatial availability of the workshop building, resulting in a higher segment change efficiency.

An innovative, chain-type lifting roller table enables a simultaneous elevation of the roller table and the slab, resulting in more reliable hot charging of the slab.
