A new rotary hearth furnace is helping Jiujiang Wire Rods Co to hit its solid waste to energy target.

The Hebei Province project was built by CISDI Thermal and Environmental Engineering Co.

The furnace can treat 300,000 tonnes a year. Iron and zinc elements are being recovered from dusts from bag filters, EAF, screening, transfer, stockhouse, coke and BOF procedures and systems.

CISDI Thermal’s Solid Waste Treatment Tech cluster has played an important role in strong results being achieved in treatment efficiency and environmental protection.

Its standout features are:

1) Integration: a solid waste reutilisation and industrialisation platform facilitates the collection of all solid wastes and optimises waste to energy processes.

2) Green: zero discharge of solid wastes from the plant has been achieved by fully recycling all iron and zinc-bearing dusts and sludges, which constitutes an important step in Jiujiang Wire Rods’ goal of becoming a demo green plant.

3) Recycling: separate recoveries of iron and zinc from dusts and sludges are producing zinc oxide powders, a quality zinc product for sale, and metallised pellets as a raw material for blast furnace ironmaking. Steam generated during recycling processes can also be reused.
