CISDI Electric’s MVC1200 synchronous motor HV frequency converter has been applied to a sintering machine’s main exhaust fan at a steel plant in China’s Hebei Province.

The converter’s capacity is 5,000 kilowatts and it is performing stably.

A major piece of equipment for sintering production, the exhaust fan’s air volumes and negative pressures need to be adjusted regularly to meet actual conditions.

However, conventional adjustments could previously only be achieved by altering the air door opening. This rudimentary adjustment failed to meet optimal process requirements and wasted a huge amount of electricity.

The MVC 1200 HV frequency converter has a dedicated synchronous motor control system. Its vector control algorithm works with an in-built module inside the main exhaust fan to overcome conventional control shortcomings.

The advanced converter can dynamically adjust the fan’s air volumes and negative pressures and keep them within a relatively constant range - which is of great importance for achieving uniform sintering targets.

The MVC1200 standardised product also transforms conventional industrial frequency methods. It solves multiple problems - such as hard starting, fan start failure and serious impact on the grid.

The automation level has been improved, saving on electricity and increasing sintering efficiency.

It enables air-water cooling, which reduces and controls indoor temperatures and prevents external dusts from damaging the converter’s operation, which reduces the amount of maintenance required.
