CISDI Thermal & Environmental Engineering Co is to transform Pangang Xichang’s two reheating furnaces to greener, more efficient operation.

The steel company is based in China’s Sichuan Province.

The furnaces serve the plant’s 2,050mm hot rolling line in addition to furnace 4, which was built by CISDI in 2019, and furnace 3, which was upgraded by CISDI in 2021.

The four reheating furnaces feature a walking-beam design.

Furnaces 3 and 4 produce high-quality reheated slabs for the downstream rolling line and have resulted in marked economic benefits. Each has an hourly output of at least 300 tonnes for hot charging, consumes less than 1.160GJ per tonne of slab and has an oxidation loss (LOI) of under 0.6 per cent.

They feature CISDI Thermal’s patented products ? dual-regenerative burners and ultra-low NOx, flame-adjustable burners, which reduce NOx emissions to less than 100mg/Nm3 (with 8% oxygen as a pre-condition).

Rolling line carbon emissions have been reduced by nearly 50,000 tonnes a year and the environmental benefits have been remarkable.

Expert reheating furnace supplier CISDI Thermal will be employing advanced tech, prime designs and outstanding management when transforming furnaces 1 and 2.

Pangang Xichang’s reheating furnace 3, successfully upgraded by CISDI Thermal, is now operating with high-standard indicators
