From design to hot commissioning, a new granulating drum for Baosteel Meishan Steel’s blast furnace 5 took CISDI just three months - a company record.

The drum is now operating smoothly.

Meishan Steel has been relying on CISDI Equipment Co for spare parts for its blast furnace 4’s granulating drum since 2020 and built up such trust, it turned immediately to CISDI when it decided to replace BF5’s drum early this year.

“Our manufacturing team established constant communication methods with the client by coordinating multiple departments and simplifying work flows,” said a CISDI spokesperson.

“There were numerous challenges in this project, including a tight schedule and the pandemic affecting dispatch of staff to the plant, but our team battled through and put huge effort into creating innovative drum designs.

“The bearing chocks with support wheels were launched first, enabling automatic water discharge. The conventional drip fill of lubricants was optimised to submerged lubrication. As a result, the support wheels and external guide rails are better protected and have a longer service life.”
