In recent days, CISDI has laid a solid foundation for downstream line production at three steel plants by hot-commissioning their reheating furnaces.

2  Baosteel Zhanjiang’s reheating furnace 2 for the 1,780mm hot strip mill at its Phase II

This custom-built energy-efficient reheating furnace now features reliable equipment and is capable of advanced processes which will result in quality product and cost savings.

It reheats 4.5778 million tonnes of cast slabs for feeding stocks into the downstream rolling line, which has a projected production of 4.5 million tonnes of hot-rolled coils.

The following CISDI tech and equipment has been applied:

ü  Zoned, real-time air-fuel ratio optimisation system

ü  Digital impulse combustion control system

ü  Ultra-low NOx burners

ü  Fume cascade heat recovery tech

ü  Energy-efficient, hydraulic potential energy recovery system.

2  Reheating furnace 3 (EPC-based) for Dung Quất Steel’s wire-rod mill at Hoa Phat Group in Vietnam

This new reheating furnace has been added to an existing direct-rolling line which had no reheating procedure. It enables the rolling line to achieve full-load production whatever the process adopted - cold charging of the cast slab, hot charging and direct rolling.

Production capacity and competitiveness will be enhanced as a result of the optimisation.

CISDI-developed dual-regenerative combustion and evaporative cooling technologies have been applied and have resulted in higher efficiency, greater energy conservation, lower LOI and low emissions. Its hourly output reaches more than 100 pieces, a world-leading level for similar furnaces.

2  Rebuilt furnace 2 for the 1,580mm hot strip mill at Xinyu Steel in China

A host of CISDI expertise has been applied to the reheating furnace at Xinyu Steel:

ü  Digital impulse combustion control

ü  Real-time air-fuel ratio optimisation system

ü  Metal glass pads

ü  Visualisation and process control.

The furnace can operate with full automation and refined internal temperature controls. These technologies play a critical part in improving the furnace’s output and reducing its consumption.

The rebuild upgrades Xinyu Steel’s high value-added products.
