CISDI’s casting quality evaluation system CQE is running successfully at a Chinese steel plant.

An innovative integration of casting process knowledge and big data analysis, this online system acquires the caster’s control data and operation data during production to make real-time forecasts of the strand quality, based on models.

Its forecasting accuracy for longitudinal crack, central segregation and crusting defects of the strand has been proven.

CQE is flexible in selecting acquisition points and open to model development. It features powerful query of historical data and is accessible from a client’s mobile phone.

The user can easily look up a single point or multiple points of process data for one or several strands.

This is a difficult task with a conventional searching tool, as strand continuously moves and crosses over multiple equipment control zones, and the data acquisition frequency ranges from millisecond to minute levels.

The boss of the Chinese steel plant where CQE is running commented, “It’s so easy to work with the CQE functions. I can even find out about site production conditions and product quality from my office.”
